The John Alden Club was started in October 1969. The original thirteen members began meeting at Cranberry Acres in Manomet near what is now the Tiny Town preschool. In 1972, a fire demolished the structure and the membership was forced to hold their meetings and functions at the Lord Alden club located at the intersection of State Road and Manomet Point Road.
In the early 1970's, construction began on the current facility located on Minuteman Lane. Early in 1974, the lower level member room was opened for meetings and functions. Work started in 1976 on the upstairs function facility with the grand opening and dedication taking place in 1979. The current function facility offers seating for up to 180 people, a full-service bar, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen.
Club members completed work on the outdoor pavilion in 1991. The Pavilion, with a capacity of over 200 people, allows the club to host outdoor functions. A full-service bar and cooking facilities are available. Clambakes and B.B.Q.'s are held during the warmer months. Games at the Pavilion include horse shoes and volleyball. In addition, you may set up your own wiffle ball, bocce ball, or other favorite outdoor games.
The membership is in the continuing process of upgrading and remodeling the facilities. Some of the more recent improvements include a complete facelift for the lower level member club room. Remodeling of the upstairs function facility are continuing to help make any occasion more special. More recent projects included a new septic system, expanded parking, and upgrading of the facilities at the Pavilion. New projects, small and large continue to this day.
From the beginning, fifty years ago, membership in the John Alden Club has grown from the quaint original thirteen to a membership of more than 400. And, the facilities have grown from a small one room structure to an 8,000 plus square foot multi-room modern meeting hall and function facility. At the John Alden Club, we are dedicated to continually improving our facilities to better serve our membership and local community.
The John Alden Club is a private club dedicated to promoting good citizenship and civic pride in our community. In addition, providing social and economic support to both youth and civic organizations in our community remains a top priority. Member participation in club activities and public rental of the function facilities provide funding which allows the John Alden Club to give charitable assistance to a wide variety of groups and organizations.
Realizing the youth of our community are our future, the John Alden Club motto is "Helping Youth". Each year, support is provided to a multitude of youth civic and sports organizations. The John Alden Club scholarship program provides ten thousand dollars in assistance annually to high school seniors attending college.

Renting the function hall or pavilion on Friday, Saturday or Sunday is $450 for four hours, and includes a bartender. From Monday – Thursday it's $350.
A second bartender, waitstaff, or an additional hour, may be requested for an added fee. You're welcome to bring your own caterer, or use our recommended caterer, Cateringsmith.
